Debbie Hendricks, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Coach of the Year in 2001, 2002 and 2003, begins her ninth season as the head volleyball coach at Metro State in 2008.

The longest tenured coach at Metro State, Hendricks has directed the Roadrunners to eight consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and has a record of 179-75 (.689) in her eight seasons. The Roadrunners have won three RMAC regular-season titles (2001, 2002, and 2003) and four RMAC tournament titles (2001, 2002, 2003, 2006) under her tutelage. During her time at Metro State, Hendricks has coached six all-Americans (Devon Herron, Jessy Roy, Shawna Gilbert, Gabrielle Curtis, Julie Green, Stefanie Allison), two RMAC Players of the Year (Bazana, Herron), three RMAC Freshmen of the Year (Herron, Allison and Kelsey Ellis), an RMAC Setter of the Year (Curtis), an RMAC Defensive Player of the Year (Bri Ostler) and 15 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) all-Region players.

During her 16 years of collegiate coaching, Hendricks has an overall record of 375-156 (.706).

While at Metro State, Hendricks has never had a losing record and has won 20 or more matches in six of her eight seasons, including 28 victories in 2001 and 27 wins in both 2002 and 2003.

Prior to coming to Metro State, Hendricks coached at West Texas A&M from 1993-98 and led the Lady Buffs to the 1997 NCAA Division II national championship with a 37-3 record. While at West Texas A&M, she compiled a 159-47 (.772) record and was honored as the 1997 AVCA NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year. She had two 30-plus win seasons, in 1997 (37) and 1995 (30), and was also named the 1997 and 1998 Lone Star Conference South Division Coach of the Year and the 1998 Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame Coach of the Year.

In the spring of 2007, Hendricks was named to the Lone Star Conference's Top 75 all-sports listing, honoring the conference's top 75 student-athletes and coaches of all-time.

Before her stint at West Texas A&M, Hendricks served as the first volleyball coach at Wayland Baptist and developed the program from the ground up. In 1992, her second year at Wayland Baptist, Hendricks directed Wayland Baptist to a second-place district finish and a national ranking.

A graduate of Lubbock Christian University, Hendricks served as a graduate assistant at Texas Tech for two years. During her time in Lubbock, the Lady Raiders broke into the top 20 for the first time and finished the 1990 season ranked No. 9 nationally.

Hendricks was a two-time academic all-American, academic all-conference and all-district selection while a player at Lubbock Christian from 1985-1988. She played on two nationally-ranked NAIA teams and held school records for season and career assists, as well as season and career service aces.

Hendricks, who recently finished her term as the chair of the NCAA volleyball rules committee, is currently a member of the AVCA all-Central region committee. She has served on several national committees, including NCAA volleyball rules committee, AVCA all-American committee and the AVCA Division II Top-25 poll committee for several years.
