Cito, Zollner, Mays Earn NSCAA All-America Honors

Dec. 17, 2007

KANSAS CITY, KAN. - Metro State's Nicole Cito, Rachel Zollner and Becca Mays have been named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) all-Americans, the organization announced.

Cito earned second-team honors, while Zollner and Mays were third-team selections. Cito was also named to the NSCAA's second team last season, while Zollner was a first-team pick in 2006. It is the first all-America honor for the sophomore Mays.

Cito, also named to the Daktronics all-America third team this season, is a two-time all-RMAC first team selection. She was the main anchor on a Metro State defense that allowed just 14 goals and had 11 shutouts in 22 games this past season.

Zollner, the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and first team all-RMAC pick at goalkeeper, is a two-time ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic all-America as well. She leaves Metro State as the program's all-time leader in wins (56) and shutouts (36).

Mays, a sophomore forward, led the team in goals (19) and points (46). A first team all-RMAC pick, Mays was also a two-time RMAC Player of the Week this past season as she ranked second in the RMAC in goals and points.

Metro State finished 16-4-2 in 2007 and advanced to its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
