COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Metro State senior guard Ashley Mickens was named all-RMAC and all-East Division, as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its women's basketball awards Wednesday afternoon.
Forward Cassondra Bratton was named to the all-East Division second team, while Paige Powers and Stephanie Sauter both earned honorable mention all-East Division accolades.
Mickens leads the league in rebounding (8.9 rpg) and has 12 double-doubles on the season. She also leads the Roadrunners in scoring. Bratton is tied for second on the team in scoring (10.2 ppg) and is second in rebounding (5.7 rpg). Powers ranks third all-time at Metro State in points scored (1210), while Sauter set the program's single-season three point record this year (85).
Amy Mathis of Nebraska-Kearney was named the RMAC and East Division Player of the Year, while CSU-Pueblo's Lindsay Black was the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and Vera Jo Bustos of Adams State was the Freshman of the Year. Fort Lewis' Mark Kellogg was the Coach of the Year.
Mathis and Jade Meads of Nebraska-Kearney, Stevi Seitz and Paulina Tuell of Regis and Mickens were named all-East Division first team.
Metro State, 18-9 overall, is the No. 3 seed in the RMAC Tournament and hosts No. 6-seed Adams State, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m., in the Auraria Events Center.
