Owen, Torp Named RMAC Honor Student-Athletes

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Metro State men's soccer player Phillip Owen and women's basketball player Anne-Marie Torp have been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Honor Student-Athletes for 2007-08, the conference announced Wednesday. Owen, an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team selection, leaves Metro State as the program's all-time leader in points, assists and goals scored. Torp was an RMAC all-Academic honor roll selection. Each school in the RMAC chose a male and a female student-athlete as their honorees. To be eligible, individuals must be an athlete in one of the conference sponsored championship sports, carry a 3.20 grade point average, be a starter or key reserve, be of good character and must have participated at the institution for two or more seasons. True freshmen and junior college transfers are not eligible in their first season at the institution.
