Julian Releases 2008 Schedule

June 20, 2008

DENVER, COLO. - Four meets in Colorado, including two at NCAA Division I University of Colorado, highlight the 2008 Metro State cross country schedule, released Friday by Roadrunner head coach Peter Julian.

"We'll stay in the state and bang heads with the top programs around the neighborhood," said Julian. "Every year we've fared a bit better against these in-state powerhouses, and we expect to continue our progress this year."

The Roadrunners begin the season with the University of Colorado Time Trial, Aug. 30, in Boulder, Colo., before heading to Fort Collins for the Colorado State Cross Country Classic two weeks later. Metro State heads back to Boulder, Oct. 4, for the Colorado Shootout.

The first of three championships kick off with the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championships at Mesa State in Grand Junction, Colo., Oct. 25, followed by the NCAA North Central Regional in Kearney, Neb., Nov. 8. The NCAA Championships conclude the season in Slippery Rock, Pa., Nov. 22.

The RMAC again figures to be stiff competition as Adams State won the NCAA women's title and finished tied for second on the men's side a year ago. Western State was second in the women's race and tied for second in the men's championship. In addition on the men's side, Colorado Mines was seventh and New Mexico Highlands finished 10th.

In 2007, the Metro State men finished fourth at the RMAC Championship, while the women were eighth. Anthony Luna individually qualified for the NCAA Championship.
