Luna Finishes Second In NCAA 800 Meters

May 24, 2008

WALNUT, CALIF. -- In the narrowest of margins, Metro State's Anthony Luna finished second in the men's 800-meter final at the NCAA Championship, Saturday evening at Mt. San Antonio College.

Luna ran a time of 1:49.39, finishing second to Indiana's (Pa.) Sean Strauman. The two runners came to the line neck-to-neck and officials had to go to the finish-line photo to determine the winner. Strauman was credited with a time of 1:49.37.

"It was most incredible race I have ever witnessed," said Roadrunner head coach Pete Julian. "I am so proud of Anthony and what he has accomplished this year."

Strauman had the best time in the prelims coming into the final, while Luna ranked No. 2.

The NCAA Championship concludes the 2008 season for the Roadrunners.
